Beginner Photography Classes
Photography can feel overwhelming when you’re just starting out — confusing camera settings, unclear advice, and the pressure to “get it right.”
My beginner photography classes are designed to make everything finally make sense.
Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or you’ve been shooting in auto mode for years, I’ll teach you photography in a calm, practical, and encouraging way — no jargon, no pressure, no gatekeeping.
These beginner-friendly photography lessons are perfect whether you’re learning from Lafayette, Louisiana or anywhere else online.
Who These Classes Are For
These classes are perfect for you if:
You feel stuck shooting in auto mode
You want to understand manual mode without feeling intimidated
Your photos don’t match what you see in your head
You want to learn photography for personal enjoyment, not perfection
You’ve taken classes before but left more confused than confident
No experience required. No expensive gear required. Just curiosity.
What You’ll Learn
In my beginner classes, we focus on understanding, not memorizing.
You’ll learn:
- How aperture, shutter speed, and ISO actually work together
- How to shoot confidently in manual mode
- How to read light and adjust settings in real time
- How to improve composition and storytelling
- How to stop guessing and start creating intentionally
By the end, you’ll know why your camera does what it does — and how to control it.
How Classes Are Offered
-Private Lessons 1:1 where we work on getting to know the exposure triangle and your specific camera, working towards whatever goals you have personally set for yourself. This can be one time or ongoing.
-Group Classes, which can be found here: https://lafayettephotographygroup.com/
Teaching Style (This Matters)
I teach photography the way I wish it had been taught to me:
Calm
Clear
Encouraging
Judgment-free
There’s no such thing as a “dumb question” here. Learning photography should feel empowering — not intimidating.
